Back Cover Summary

Mary Anne has never been a leader of the Baby-sitters Gild. She's left that upwards to Kristy... or Claudia... or Stacey. But now in that location's a big fight among the four friends, and Mary Anne doesn't take them to depend on anymore.

Information technology'southward bad enough when she's left solitary at the tiffin tabular array at school. Only when she has to guard a sick kid without any help from her friends, Mary Anne knows it'south time to have charge.

The Baby-sitters Order is going to autumn autonomously unless somebody does something — fast. Maybe information technology's time for Mary Anne to step in and salve the day!

Summary

Primary Plot

In that location is a big fight between the Baby Sitters Guild members! Mary Anne hates arguments and is really upset. Not 1 of the members is speaking to another BSC fellow member. Mary Anne has to eat lunch by herself — until Dawn Schafer, the new girl (at schoolhouse and in the town) asks to sit down! The two go friends and Kristy is jealous. The BSC members fight for over a month. When Mary Anne has to handle an emergency on the chore without whatsoever assist from the BSC — things get complicated. Mary Anne has to learn to stand for herself — starting with her over-protective father.

During a coming together of the Babysitters Club, Mary Anne and Kristy are both bachelor for a chore infant-sitting Karen and Andrew. Mary Anne lets Kristy have the chore. Mrs. Newton calls needing a sitter for Jamie and Lucy. Kristy takes the job without bothering to cheque who is available. Claudia then calls her a job pig. Stacey then points out to Claudia that she does it lots of times, and before yous know information technology, all iii are at each others' throats. Stacey reminds anybody that she'southward from New York and doesn't need shy piddling babies (Mary Anne), stuck-up job hogs (Claudia), and bossy know-it-alls (Kristy) equally friends. This causes Mary Anne to cry. Kristy and so tells her to close up and calls her a crybaby. Mary Anne then snaps and calls everyone hateful names and runs home and cries. She and so angrily prepares dinner for herself and her male parent. Her begetter then comes habitation and they ask God to watch over Alma (Mary Anne's deceased mother). Then she escapes to her room and decides not to tell her father about the fight. She thinks about calling Claudia, since Claudia didn't say annihilation hateful directly to her. She is, however, not allowed on the phone subsequently dinner. When she is ready for bed, she tries to repent to Kristy using the flashlight code that they use. Kristy but pulls her shade down. Then Mary Anne realized how angry Kristy was.

Subplot

Afterwards the BSC makes up, Mary Anne asks Dawn to join The Baby Sitters Gild, and she accepts! Will Dawn be a adept social club member? Is she responsible enough? Null Dawn tin't prove! Mary Anne and Dawn also detect that their parents knew each other in high school and they dated! Tin Dawn and Mary Anne rekindle the love that they shared that ended tragically?
